UJUZI is open to artists living and working in East Africa who have specific research questions they want to explore to enhance their creative practice and limited to Kenyan artists in the first year.

The application deadline is November 6th, 2023 and the selected candiate must be available for their first residency (which is online) from December X to December X 2023.

UJUZI recruits through an open-call application process. Jury consists of five members (three members must be embedded in the local art scene) One representative from the Nairobi Contemporary Art Institute One representative Untethered Magic Three independent representatives Up to ten shortlisted candidates go through an interview process - interviews to be selected following an interview with a panel of 5 (3 mentors, 1 representative from NCAI, 1 representative from Untethered Magic) For the 2024 cycle, only three artists can be selected
